Afroamerička etnička skupina podijelila je iskustvo života u Americi koji je bio sve, samo ne prihvatljiv i ugodan. Usred njima najtežeg životnog razdoblja uspjeli su proizvesti neke od najboljih kulturalnih izuma koje je ta zemlja ikad vidjela, a to su blues i jazz. Glazba im je pomogla da podijele svoju bol i prenesu emocije koje inače, u to vrijeme, ne bi isplivale na površinu.
